The story behind REPLAY64

Why 64?

The “64” in REPLAY64 is a tribute to gaming history and the technology that helped move it forward.

Nintendo 64 might be the first system that comes to mind, but the significance of 64-bit technology reaches beyond Nintendo. Atari made it a defining part of the Atari Jaguar’s identity. Nintendo put a 64-bit processor at the heart of the Nintendo 64. Sega’s Dreamcast used 64-bit data pathways within its hardware, while the Sony PlayStation 2 combined a 64-bit CPU core with wider processing capabilities. Microsoft’s Xbox 360 used a custom 64-bit PowerPC-based processor, giving it a place in the broader history of 64-bit console technology. Later consoles continued building on 64-bit architecture.

Those systems took different approaches, but each belongs to a history of developers and hardware makers pushing games further. Bigger worlds, new experiences, online communities, and new ways to play gave us generations of games worth remembering and collecting.

That shared history is why I chose 64. It connects REPLAY64 to gaming across brands and generations, while leaving room for everything the business has grown to include.

“Replay” is about returning to the games and memories we love. “64” honors the innovation that helped create them and the continued evolution of gaming that followed.

Whether you collect Atari, Sega, Nintendo, Sony PlayStation, Microsoft Xbox, or something beyond video games, you’re welcome here.
